Orange Park Police Chief Gary Goble is retiring after a 35-year career in law enforcement

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – In less than 24 hours, Orange Park Police Chief Gary Goble will retire after a 35-year career in law enforcement.

Goble has served as the chief of the Orange Park Police Department for the past 13 years.

On Wednesday, family, friends and colleagues gathered at Moosehaven for a special luncheon in his honor. They shared stories and viewed throwback photos from his career.

Chief Goble expressed his readiness to embark on a new chapter in his life, yet leaving behind a career he has cherished remains difficult.

“I’ve always said that law enforcement is like a calling,” Goble said. “It’s got to be something that you love to do, obviously, you miss birthdays, you miss your kids growing up a lot of times. You have regrets, but you understand it’s something that needs to be done.”

Thursday on The Morning Show, News4JAX reporter Ashley Harding will share the chief’s plans now that he’s retired and what he wants his legacy to be.
